WHAT TO EXPECT

Since your baby’s arrival will likely be unpredictable, I recommend getting your newborn session in the books 6-8 weeks prior to your due date. If your new bundle comes a little early or later than planned, I will find a way to rearrange my schedule to make sure you get those most precious moments captured!

Once you have put down a deposit & signed your photography agreement, your due date goes onto my calendar! Get in touch shortly after your baby arrives so we can prepare for your session. Newborn sessions usually take place during the week in the early morning or afternoon, lasting anything from 2-3 hours. I try to keep my scheduling as flexible as possible to work around you and your baby. . for more sleepy images we recommend attending your session when your little bundle is under 2 weeks of age.

Your preview gallery is usually ready for viewing within 2 week after your session takes place, your images at this stage will be lightly edited for you to choose your favourites which will then be fully edited in my style.

Your in-home newborn session is designed to be a beautifully relaxed, luxury experience, focused on connection, comfort, and timeless imagery. Everything is guided gently — there is no pressure for perfection 🤍

Below is a simple guide to help you prepare.

HOW TO PREPARE

Choosing Your Space

You may select:

Two or three rooms within your home, or your bedroom only, if you prefer a more minimal approach

If using the bedroom, all that’s required is:

White or neutral bedding

I can style the space using my own pillows, throws, and textures to create a soft, cohesive look.

⸻

Natural Light

I work exclusively with natural light to achieve a soft, timeless aesthetic.

Where possible, please keep areas near windows clear

I will assess the light on arrival and guide positioning

No need to worry — your home doesn’t need to be “perfect.”

⸻

Styling Baby

If you have a chosen outfit, baby can be dressed prior to my arrival

Alternatively, you may borrow from my curated client wardrobe, featuring soft, neutral pieces designed to photograph beautifully

I will bring all wraps, blankets, and styling elements.

You are also welcome to include sentimental or heirloom items you’d love incorporated into your images.

⸻

Temperature

For baby’s comfort:

Fully dressed babies: 18–20°C

Outfits showing more skin: 22–24°C

Comfort is always prioritised.

⸻

Feeding & Flow

If possible, offer baby a full feed before I arrive.

If this doesn’t align with their natural rhythm, please don’t worry.

✨ Your baby leads the session. ✨

Feeding, changing, and soothing breaks are always welcomed and encouraged.

⸻

During the Session

You may be gently guided to adjust furniture or positioning for optimal light

  • Older siblings may be invited to sit or stand in places they normally wouldn’t — only if you’re comfortable

EXAMPLES OF WHAT TO WEAR

You are more then welcome to send over any outfit ideas if you need a second opinion!

We also have a selection of outfits & wraps that can be borrowed during your session as well as some cute headbands!

A Thoughtful Note

Your comfort is always honoured.

You are warmly invited to decline or pause anything that doesn’t feel right for you or your baby.

The experience is designed to be calm, unhurried, and beautifully flexible—allowing space to simply be.

A Gentle Reminder

Your home does not need to be styled or pristine.

A light tidy of visible surfaces is more than enough.

I work only within the frame, focusing on what matters most.

This session is about connection, intimacy, and the quiet beauty of these fleeting early days.

CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU ALL!
